| Notes: |
 |
The
HDDs/SCSI devices listed above were confirmed
to operate properly with TYROS through our
lab tests on drives YAMAHA optionally obtained
from the market. This does not mean all the
drives of the same manufacturer and of the
same model number always work properly to
subtle difference in manufacturing time and
place. |
| |
| Dimension:
|
 |
Hard
disk drive thicker than 12.7mm cannot be installed
to the PSR-9000, 9000Pro and TYROS. |
 |
| Maximum
Capacity: |
 |
PSR-8000 |
The maximum access
size is 800MB even if the HD capacity is bigger
than this. |
| PSR-9000 & 9000Pro |
The maximum access
size is 8GB even if the HD capacity is bigger
than this. The HD is partitioned in 2GB each. |
| TYROS |
TYROS can access
up to 137GB logically, however it has been
tested up to 60GB. |
 |
Once
the Hard Disk is formatted by TYROS, it is
not used on PSR-9000 and 9000Pro. This is
because TYROS uses FAT32* where as PSR-9000
and 9000Pro use FAT16*. As PSR-8000 uses its
original format, the hard disk formatted by
TYROS can be used on the PSR-8000 after re-formatting
by onboard format command.
The hard disk can be
used on PSR-9000 and 9000Pro if the hard disk's
partition is cleared by PC and re-formatted
by the respective instrument. |

| *About
FAT16 and FAT32 |
 |
FAT(File
Allocation Table) is a way of structure to
manage files in the hard disk and floppy disk.
There are two formats. |
| FAT16
is used in Windows 95 and it can manage up
to 2GB. If the hard disk capacity is more
than 2GB, the hard disk should be partitioned
as several 2GB drives. |
| FAT32
is used in Windows95(OSR2), Windows98 and
later operation systems. It can manage up
to 2048GB (2TB). |
